Roosevelt was the place to be over the weekend for one of the biggest events in the Uintah Basin, the Uintah Basin In Celebration. “The 2023 UBIC was a magical time,” shares Duchesne County Commissioner Irene Hansen. “Generations of residents plan family reunions and other timeless experiences around UBIC. Grandparents watch grandchildren perform with the same pride as when their own children performed 25 years ago. UBIC is a community treasure that keeps giving joy, memories and a sense that everything is going to be okay.” 2023 UBIC was a great success with crowds enjoying the concerts and the fantastic fireworks show. The Utah History Encyclopedia on uen.org provides a brief history on the celebration. The UBIC originally stood for the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention started in the early part of the 20th century. It provided a yearly display of the latest and greatest in farming and industrial technology but has transformed over the decades to be a yearly gala complete with parade, talent show, concerts and dances.
