The numbers are in and 2017 proved to be a great year for tourism. According to Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp, Dinosaur National Monument had over 315,000 visitors in 2017. That is over a 3 percent growth from 2016 and the highest report of visitation since 2005. The Utah Field House museum saw the highest visitation they have ever reported for a year and Red Fleet State Park also saw visitation and financial growth over previous years. “2017 was an amazing year for the Uintah County Office of Tourism,” says Coltharp. “Visitation grew, we hosted the Utah Tourism Conference with over 400 key tourism individuals in the state, we opened the Vernal Information Center, and we can’t forget the Utah Symphony performance at Split Mountain…We are looking forward to another successful year.” Uintah County is adding another event to the lineup this year with the Dino “Soar” balloon festival scheduled May 11th through the 13th. The event will be part of the 1st annual Dinosaur Days celebration now in the works.
