1st Degree Murder Charge For 16-Year-Old Who Allegedly Shot And Killed 14YO

The 16-year-old brought into custody for allegedly fatally shooting a 14-year-old in Duchesne County on Sunday has been charged as an adult in 8th District Court. Haegan Ray Sagers has been charged with 1st Degree Felony Murder and 1st Degree Felony Discharge of a Firearm. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office reported that on September 22nd, deputies were dispatched to a report of a “family fight” that involved the discharge of a firearm. “Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located 1 male juvenile outside the residence, and another male juvenile was located deceased inside the residence from a gunshot wound to his upper body,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “There were no other family members inside the home at the time of the incident. Detectives with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began an investigation into the sequence of events that led to the juvenile’s death.” 16-year-old Haegan Sagers was taken into custody and transported to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning, before being transported to the Split Mountain Youth Detention Center in Vernal. The charges in 8th District Court were filed on Monday.
