Proudly wearing cap and gown, one hundred students received diplomas on Saturday during the Utah State University-Uintah Basin commencement ceremony. Diplomas ranged from Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees. “Obtaining a university degree is not an easy accomplishment and involves dedication and stamina,” shared USU-Uintah Basin Executive Director James Taylor. “We are extremely proud of these students and wish them a bright future as they enter and contribute to our local workforce.” The processional was accompanied by White Peaks Centennial Pipe Band and the colors were presented by the 624th Engineer Company. Elementary Education graduate Alyse Hayes was among the speakers. “No matter our age or stage in life, we all get to continue changing for the better,” shared Hayes. “We have all heard the saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. What a moronic saying! If the old dog wants to learn, then the old dog can learn. The old dog can continue in that excellent journey and do whatever he or she wants!” The class of 2018 included a diverse group of students ranging from those just out of high school to those older and further along life’s journey. Congratulations to the USU-Uintah Basin class of 2018!
