The Cougar boys played late Saturday eveningentering the Tournament as the number 2 seed from Region 14 taking on the number 4 seed from Region 13, Grantsville. The Cowboys jumped off to the early lead and the Cougars just couldn't make up the difference as the Cowboys beat the Cougars 68-59. Jon Parker scored 20 with Kaiden Owen adding 13 and Reid Price 8 for the Cougars. Great job making it to state, Cougars! 

Both the Union Cougar boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Carbon last week with the boys losing in overtime 74-68 and the girls losing 62-53.The boys finished second in Region 14 and will start their 3A State run taking on Grantsville Saturday at 8:10pm at Wasatch High school. The Lady Cougars finished tied for first, but lost the coin toss to put them as the third seed going into the state tournament, they will take on South Sevier on Friday at 4:50 at Wasatch High School.

Union Cougars girls basketball team took on the Providence Hall Patriots on Tuesday, December 19th. The Cougars took the lead early with the halftime score of Union 24 - Providence Hall 15. Union almost doubled their score in the third quarter by adding 21 points. They added another 6 points in the fourth quarter and the game ended with a score of Union 51 - Providence Hall 27. 12 points were scored by both Reagan Anderson and Tori Ross while Kennedy Ross had 11.

Against Maeser Prep the Cougars started off the game scoring 22 unanswered points on their way to a 59-14 victory of the Lady Lions. Kennedy Ross scored 10 in the win. At Delta Kennedy Ross, Reagan Anderson, and Tori Ross were in double figures as the Lady Cougars notched another victory 43-31over the Rabbits. They'll also host Providence Hall Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars basketball team traveled to Emery last Tuesday Kennedy Ross scored 16 with Reagan Anderson adding 12 but the Cougars couldn't keep pace with the Spartans, losing 85-47. Fridaythey traveled to Vernal to take on the Lady Utes. Kennedy Ross opened up for 21 points with Reagan Anderson added 11 as the Lady Cougs took off big first half lead held on to avenge the previous loss to the Utes 50-36. They're at Maeser Prep Tuesday then travel to Delta Thursday.

The Lady Cougars basketball team headed to Logan at Utah State University to take on Juan Diego Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 3A State Basketball Championship. Kennedy Ross scored 9 with 10 rebounds with Carly Blake scoring 8 but the Soaring Eagles edged away from the Cougars for the 44-34 win.  Now in the consolation bracket, the Lady Cougars took on Desert Hills. The Lady Thunder came out strong building a big half time lead. The Cougars just couldn't get back on track, losing to the Thunder 59-38. Tori Ross scored 8 and Ellison Weaver 7 in the losing effort. It was a nice season for the young Lady Cougar team.

The Lady Cougars basketball team hosted Juab last Saturday for the first round of the 3A State Championship. The Cougars started off slow then roared back in the second quarter to take the half time lead. The Cougars built a big lead then gave most of it away before righting the ship and taking the 54-46 victory. Carly Blake scored 26 with Reagan Anderson adding 12 in the victory.  The Cougs will head to Logan at Utah State University to take on Juan Diego in the quarterfinals. Good luck ladies!

The Lady Cougars basketball team hosted Stansbury Lady Stallions Friday in a key matchup as they were tied for second place in the Region going into the game. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead and added to it each quarter to take the 59-43 victory.  Carly Blake led the Cougars scoring 17 points with Regan Anderson adding 13, Tori and Kennedy Ross each added 6 points in the win. The Lady Cougars avenged an earlier loss to the Stallions and finished 5 and 3 in Region 10. They will host Juab in a non-region game Saturday at 7 o'clock.

The Lady Cougars basketball team also hosted Park City Friday.  Tori Ross scored 16 with Regan Anderson adding 13 and Marleigh Horrocks chipped in 12 as the Lady Cougars put together a 23-2 third quarter on the way to a 67-51 victory.  Tuesday they too traveled to Grantsville, Regan Anderson scored 15 with Kennedy Ross adding 10, but the Lady Cougars fell behind early and couldn't muster a comeback in the 69-50 loss.  They travel to Tooele on Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars basketball team also traveled to Park City Tuesday. A late comeback by the Cougs took the game to overtime and they kept the momentum to score the 64-58 victory.  Tori Ross drained 5 from downtown for 19 points and Carly Blake added 17 in the win. Friday they hosted Grantsville, Tori Ross scored 16 with Kennedy Ross and Carly Blake each adding 8, but the Cougars fell behind early and couldn't catch back up in the 64-45 loss.  They'll host Tooele Thursday and visit Stansbury next Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars hosted rival Uintah last Tuesday. Opening an eight point lead in the first quarter, Union held that lead throughout the game for the 47-39 victory. Carly Blake scored 12 points, with Kennedy Ross and Marleigh Horrocks each scored 10 in the Cougar win.  They then hosted Morgan last Thursday. Ross scored 12 and Horrocks 11 and the Cougars led early, but faded down the stretch, losing to the Lady Trojans 63-45. The Cougs travel to Duchesne Tuesday then start region play at Park City next Tuesday.
