On a rare Thursday night game the Utes from Uintah High School hosted the Ogden Tigers. In familiar fashion the Utes opened the game with a turnover on their first possession and saw the Tigers score first following the interception thrown by Sophomore quarterback Oaks. The Utes followed that up with a strong 54 yard scoring drive, with a 2 yard Rushing touchdown from running back Mike Jones. The next three possessions went punt, punt, punt as the defenses dug in. The Utes broke the scoring drought on their 4th possession on a beautiful pass and catch combination from Oaks to Dallin Breakfield with help from down field blocking from Corbin Allen. The tigers equalized on their next possession with a 49 Yard touchdown catch, with the Ute defense playing a little flat footed.
Then the Utes blew it open. The next Ute drive took all of one play with a 54 yard catch taken to the house by Mr. Do Everything Cruz Leyba. This was followed by a 9 Yard quarterback keeper by Oaks, a 65 yard pass from Oaks to Dustin Breakfield and a 31 yard field goal by Treven Mckeacknie to end the half, with a score of 38-21 at the half.
The Tigers started strong on their first possession of the second half scoring quickly, and appeared to have some momentum. But the utes answered with a 32 Yard touchdown pass from Oaks to Corbin Allen, followed with two touchdown catches by Dallin Breakfield. With many of the Utes JV squad on the field the tigers got their final score in to make the final score 59-33.
The Utes only had one turnover, which happened on their first possession… The Utes forced 8 fumbles… The Utes had 6 sacks on the night… Both return men for Uintah had a 40 yard return… Uintah has a winning record for the season at 5-5 in Coach Heaps second year… The Utes could be in the playoffs with a win vs Wasatch on October 19th.
