Norma Jean (Anderson) Wardle, 94 of Vernal Utah passed away February 15, 2021 at her home.
Norma was born August 27, 1926 in Roosevelt, Utah to Ada Rhea Hanson and Albin Emanual Anderson. She was the oldest of 5 siblings (Wanda, Stanley, Elaine and Evelyn).
Norma married Harold Richardson on March 22, 1947. Harold died on April 14, 1963. Norma married Darrell Wardle on June 2, 1972. Darrell died on May 15, 1989. She never remarried.
Norma worked for numerous positions in county and federal government, spending most of her career working for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in Vernal. Her civic activities included Beau Arts and the Dinah-Mites, the Ambassadors for the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. She was particularly proud of her work to plant flowers in the many planters lining Main Street and her special recognition for service to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Those who knew Norma knew her as a generous mother who never forgot a birthday or special event. She was an accomplished knitter, knitting hundreds of sweaters, slippers and dishcloths for family and friends. She never wanted to knit for a living but did teach knitting at Adult Education classes in Vernal.
She is survived by her son Jay (Deanna) and her grandchildren Bryce and Mara; her stepson D. Duane Wardle (Laura Searle Wardle), their children Rodney D. Wardle, D. Brook Wardle, Jill Wardle Fichialos, Chelsie Wardle Saunders, Michael R. Wardle and 13 grandchildren of Duane and Laura. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Ada, her sister Wanda Calder and her brother Stanley Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m at Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary, 15 East 100 North, Vernal Utah. The service will be streamed live for those who are unable to attend at the link above that is highlighted in blue. Online condolences may be shared here in the Tribute page.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to any charity in Norma’s name would be a wonderful gesture.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. A Viewing will be Saturday 1 hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery.
