Priorities… work, children, family commitments, community obligations, church service, and friendships. Sometimes it’s really hard to stay on top of all of these important obligations. By the way, did you notice, I forgot to mention my marriage? How about you? Is your marriage a priority in your life? Often times we take for granted the most important elements of our lives. When your marriage is healthy, all of these other elements will fall into place. Doctor John Gottman provides advice on this subject. Find one thing to admire or appreciate about your partner each day and share this admiration with them. Take time to show affection by kissing, touching, and being playful. And finally, plan alone time with your partner every day. Make your first priority your marriage. Your children will follow your example and together you’ll be better prepared to manage the other priorities in your life.
