Life Guard, Water Safety Instructor Classes at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center

Training classes are about to begin for new lifeguards and water safety instructors. Water safety instructors (WSIs) are certified to teach swimming lessons. The water safety instructor class will run from February 16-27 for 11 total days of instruction.. Classes are held Monday - Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Attendees who pass the pre-screening on Feb. 16 will be enrolled in the full WSI course and will then be charged the class fee of $100. You must be 16- years-old or older to attend. Please note that the WSI course is not designed to teach basic swimming skills. For more information on the requirements for certification, contact us at 435-722-4851. A new lifeguard training session will also begin soon. The next lifeguard class will be held from Feb. 1-11 for eight total days of instruction. Classes will be held Monday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Like the WSI class, aspiring lifeguards must also pass a pre-screening before being admitted to the course in full. Those who pass the pre-screening will be admitted to the class and will then be charged a $100 fee. Lifeguards must be 15-years-old or older and must demonstrate proficiency in a variety of swim strokes and other skills. The course is not designed to teach basic swimming skills to attendees.
