The Duchesne Boys and Girls basketball teams headed to State 2A competition last week. The Boys  finished second in Region 16 and started their state run beating the Millard Eagles 65-40. Thursday morning they took on the #1 seed from Region 17 Rowland Hall.  Weston Poulson scored 16 as the Eagles took off with the early lead and built upon it for the 53-35 victory. Next came Region 18 number 2 seed Parowan in the semifinal game. Again the Eagles had a good first quarter, which lead to the 48-35 win.  Kade Lamborn scored 17 in the victory.  This put the Eagles into the Championship game against Region 18 #1 seed Beaver. Jaren Mortensen lead the Eagles with 9 but the Beavers defense held the Eagles scoring down as they beat the Eagles 44-30.  Great job finishing second in state Eagles!

The Duchesne Boys basketball team hosted Utah Military last Tuesday Braden Johnson scored 11 and Gavin Davis and Weston Poulson each scored 10 as the Eagles easily dominated the Thunderbirds 75-26. Friday the traveled to Coalville to take on North Summit. Kade Lamborn scored 16 with Braden Johnson and Jarett Spencer each with 12 but the Braves took control in the second half to beat the Eagles 59-49. They're at Altamont Tuesday and St. Joseph's Friday

The Duchesne Boys basketball team traveled Tabiona last Thursday in what turned out to be a hard fought back and for battle with Tabiona emerging the victor with a final score of 48-46. Hayes Giles lit up the scoreboard for the Tigers with five three-point baskets and a total of 18 points with Wyatt Fabrizio adding 14.  Jarett Spencer and Kade Lamborn each had 11 for the Eagles. They'll host St. Joseph Tuesday and travel to Layton Christian Friday.

The Duchesne Boys basketball team traveled to Kanab for the Cowboy Classic Basketball tournament during Christmas break.  The Eagles took on the Kanab Cowboys Friday, Kade Lamborn scored 14 with Braden Johnson adding 11 as the Eagles took off to a 25-19 Halftime  lead, but couldn't hold it, as the Cowboys came back in the second half to beat the Eagles 46-42. The boys are at Tabiona Thursday.  The Lady Eagles basketball team didn't play over the Christmas break, they're also at Tabiona Thursday.

The Duchesne Boys basketball team notched a big win against Union last Wednesday, beating the Cougars 77-51.  Jarett Spencer hit six three-point buckets enroute to a 22 point game. The Eagles then headed to the Central Utah Preview to face the Wayne Badgers, the Eagles held the lead through three quarters, but the Badgers came from behind to beat the Eagles 55-53. Saturday they took on the Parowan Rams. Also building a 6-point lead after three quarters, the Eagles managed to hold on in the fourth for the 56-53 win. They're at Waterford Friday

The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team traveled to the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield for the 1A state championships. Wednesday they took on  Bryce Valley, the Eagles jumped out to a twelve point lead in the first quarter but the Mustangs came right back to take the lead at the half.  The Mustangs then edges away from the Eagles to take the 63-58 win. Chad Lewis scored 15 and Kade Lamborn 14 in the Eagle loss.  This sent the Eagles to the consolation bracket where they faced the Diamond Ranch Rattlesnakes out of Hurricane fairly even during the first half, the Eagles exploded for 50 points in the second while holding the Rattlesnakes to 24 as the Duchesne cruised to the 77-43 victory. Kade Lamborn scored 12 and Ammon Graehl 11 in the win. They will play Piute Friday at 1:30 for the right to play the winner between Monticello and Parowan Saturday.

The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team traveled to Rich last Thursday in a key game for ranking going in to the 1A State Basketball Championships. Rich took a 9 point lead to the locker room at half, but the Eagles outscored the Rebels 36-22 in the second half to get the big win.  Chad Lewis drained 3 three-point buckets on the way to 15 points, Kade Lambourn also scored 15 with Weston Poulson adding 14 in the Eagle win.  The Eagles will start State Championship playWednesday at 1pm taking on the winner of a play-in game between Bryce Valley and Mount Vernon. The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team hosted the Tabiona Tigers last Friday in a hard fought overtime match. The Eagles enjoyed a six point lead at the half, but the Tigers clawed their way back to tie it at the end of regulation. Jarett Spencer hit a clutch three point shot in overtime to give the Eagles the 52-48 victory. Kade Lamborn led the Eagles with 21. The Eagles host Monticello Tuesday and visit Manila Friday.

The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team traveled to Riverdale to take on Utah Military Academy. Chad Lewis scored 19 with Jarrett Spencer adding 16 in the 72-41 victory. Saturday they hosted Rich, both were undefeated in Region 17 play.  The Eagles came out hot then let the Rebels back in with a narrow lead at the half. The Eagles slowly pulled away for the 64-52 victory to stand alone at the top of the Region. Spencer and Lewis combined for 46 points in the win. They'll host Tabiona Friday the third.

The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team hosted Altamont Thursday to begin Region 17 play. Altamont held the early lead, but the Eagles made a comeback then held on for the 55-51 victory. Chad Lewis scored 27 and four 3-points buckets with Jarett Spencer adding 14, for the Longhorns, Parker Rust scored 17 with Zach Hansen adding 9. The Longhorns host Rowland Hall Wednesday and Utah Military Friday, while the Eagles are at Tabiona Friday

The Duchesne Eagle Boy's Basketball team hosted North Summit Wednesday. Chad Lewis lead the Eagles with 10 points in the 48-31 loss. Friday they took on Valley, Jarett Spencer scored 12 in the 45-38 Eagle victory. Saturday they played Parowan, Lewis had three treys and 17 points in the close 44-42 loss to the Rams.  They're at Pinnacle Tuesday and host Maeser Prep Friday.
