More mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Uintah County. According to TriCounty Health representative Jeramie Tubbs, Uintah County Mosquito Abatement had 4 more mosquito pools test positive for the virus last week; one from the south Jensen trap, two from the Pelican trap and one from the Ouray area. Uintah County was the first county in the state to have West Nile Virus confirmed in mosquito pools this summer. “This year we are sitting at 11 positive pools already,” shares Tubbs. That is high considering Uintah County had a total of 15 pools in 2015. So far this year there have been no equine or human cases while last year resulted in 2 equine and 1 human case. Duchesne County’s Mosquito Abatement district has had no pools test positive for West Nile Virus so far this year.
