Vernal Regional Airport Close to Reaching Goal to Qualify for Million Dollar Grant

The Vernal Regional Airport is asking the public to help them reach their goal of 10,000 enplanements in 2018. An enplanement is one person boarding in Vernal and departing the airport and when 10,000 is reached in a calendar year, the airport qualifies for a $1,000,000 dollar grant in federal funding for fiscal year 2020. “We have now had the second best year ever and still have 6 weeks to go,” shares airport manager Doug Brown. “We are factoring in a charter that comes in weekly to fly workers around to different locations and if both SkyWest and Denver air connections can maintain their averages, we will hit 10,000 departing passengers this year.” As of Wednesday, the 2018 departing passengers count had reached 8,482.
