The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting a free bird hunting clinic in Vernal this week. The clinic is in preparation for the youth waterfowl hunt scheduled for the next day on
September 17th
. According to wildlife recreation specialist Alex Hansen, the clinic on
September 16th
is free and open to all ages but the waterfowl hunt is only open to youth who were 17 or younger on
July 31st
AND who attended the the clinic the day before. The clinic will teach how to identify waterfowl and upland game species, place decoys, call ducks and geese, handle a hunting dog, and shoot a shotgun. During the waterfowl hunt the next day the young hunters will be accompanied by experienced mentors. Space is limited in the
