Funding BTA’s Vernal route was a topic at the County/City meeting

on Monday

at Vernal City Hall. While no final decision was ultimately made during the meeting, a proposal from Councilman Ted Munford was met with general approval. Munford proposed that Vernal City provide the funds needed for the Vernal BTA route for the coming fiscal year until PROP 1 can be placed on the ballot again and the voters can decide once and for all if they support funding public transit or not. “[In the last election] our community said NO,” says Munford. “I’ve had many come up to me and say they voted NO because they didn’t know what it was or they were mislead. If that is the case, I want to honor their vote above everything else…and we have the chance to add PROP 1 to the ballot next year. So all we need to do then is [fund the Vernal route] through next year until we get the community to say YES or NO….If the community says NO again then we say NO. The most important thing we can do is honor the vote of our people.” No vote was taken and the item was tabled until the Vernal City Council’s next meeting scheduled for

Wednesday

night.
