The Vernal City Police Department is working with the Utah Highway Safety Office to keep Vernal a safe place for pedestrians and motorists. “The Vernal City Police Department will be conducting enforcement activities at several crosswalks within Vernal City, to include mid-block crosswalks, crosswalks at uncontrolled intersections, and crosswalks controlled by pedestrian activated crossing signals,” shares Vernal PD. “To accomplish this we will be conducting pedestrian enforcement at school crosswalks for both the Vernal and Uintah Middle Schools. We will be utilizing both marked and unmarked patrol cars monitoring the intersections.” The officers will be keeping track of how many violators were stopped and how many were cited. The goal is to remind drivers and pedestrians of the importance of watching for one another and to educate all on the laws relating to pedestrian safety.
