Vernal City Manager Ken Bassett will soon pass off the torch to a new City Manager. Bassett began his employment with Vernal City in 1978 as the Assistant City Manager. He took over the Manager position in 1981. Ken is scheduled to retire on June 30th. He and his wife RoJean will be leaving in August for a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Istanbul, Turkey.  The Vernal City Council approved the hiring of Quinn Bennion as the new Vernal City Manager earlier this month. Bennion received a Masters in Public Administration and has worked for 17 years as a City Manager. Bennion will start in the post on July 5th. An open house honoring Mr. Bassett will be held on Wednesday, June 28th from 4 to 6pm at the Vernal City Community Room.
