Vernal City Council approved an ordinance amendment
Wednesday night
that expands options for restaurants that sell alcohol. Vernal Brewing Company approached the City with a request to consider including a provision in the alcoholic beverage and licensing code to allow for what is defined by the state as “dining clubs”. Dining Clubs are given another level of permitting that allows the premise a higher percentage of alcohol sales than allowed otherwise. According to the City’s information packet on the proposed amendment, restaurants in Vernal City are required to show that 70% of their monetary receipts are in food items but if qualified as a Dining Club, only 60% of monetary receipts would have to be in food items. Vernal City Council approved the amendment to allow Dining Clubs in Vernal City.
