UTSSD Approves Bond on Leland Bench Road Project

A project several years in the works received bond approval last week. The Uintah Transportation Special Service District board approved a bond of 6 million dollars for the Woods Road or Leland Bench Road project last Tuesday. In January, the CIB gave preliminary approval to transfer funds originally awarded for the Ashley Valley Energy Route to the Leland Bench Road project mostly in the form of a grant. The total of 14 million 969 thousand dollars is split up as a nearly 9 million dollar grant and a 6 million dollar loan with a low interest rate of 1.5 percent over 15 years. The road is located in southern Uintah County and is in need of repair due to heavy industrial truck traffic and safety issues related to sharp corners.
