While Congressman Rob Bishop’ Public Lands Initiative has large support in the state of Utah, the Ute Tribe is among those in active opposition. As part of their effort, the Ute Tribe has gathered over 300,000 signatures on a petition that is being delivered to House Speaker Paul Ryan today in Washington, D.C. The Tribe has planned an event for Wednesday afternoon at the Capitol Building at 3:30with the intent of making their voices heard. The petition itself, addressed to Speaker Ryan, states that the Public Lands Initiative is a “21st century indian land grab.” In addition to the

petition, the Ute Tribe campaign has been running TV ads against Rob Bishop and the progress being made on the Public Lands Initiative.
