Utah Employment Report

Another month of Utah’s employment numbers are in from the Department of Workforce Services(DWS) showing that the nonfarm payroll employment grew by 3.3 percent compared to August 2015. This brings Utah’s current employment level to 1,420,900 Utahns employed. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticked down two-tenths of a percent to 3.7 percent. National unemployment stayed the same at 4.9 percent. “The Utah job market continues to grow at an optimal pace,” reports DWS Chief Economist Carrie Mayne. “Unemployment numbers in the state show a pattern of job seekers entering the workforce and finding employment.” County unemployment numbers will be released this week.
