Union High Launches Swim Team

Union High School’s new swim team is proving that cats really do like water. The team has begun competitions with eighteen swimmers and a total of twelve swim meets. The team welcomes new swimmers, experienced or not. Justin Schmitt and Tom Felkins make up the coaching staff. “The swimmers are working hard and getting ready for their first meet,” shares Coach Felkins and Coach Schmitt says he doesn’t “think there is a better sport out there.” The swimmers are already having positive experiences in and out of the water. Swim team member Markus Navanick says his first meet was a ‘cool’ experience. “All the teams cheered on each other, even the opposing swimmers,” shares Markus. The Union Swim Team has a meet Thursday, November 16th at South Summit. Their state swim meet is
on February 8th.
The swim team practices
Monday – Thursday
from 3:30 – 5:30 and Fridays
from 1:30 – 3:30
at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center.
