Local county unemployment numbers are showing a gradual shift in the right direction. The Department of Workforce Services released July’s unemployment numbers this week which show Duchesne County with a shift down from 9.3 percent to 9.1 percent unemployment and Uintah County with a shift down from 10 percent to 9.8 percent unemployment. Daggett County remained the same at 5.4 percent unemployment. State unemployment registered at 3.9 percent while national unemployment held steady at 4.9 percent. Natural Resources and Mining is the only industry in the state that has posted a decrease in positions over the last year. The fastest employment growth in the state occurred in Construction, Financial Activities and Education and Health Services.
