Uintah Student/Athlete of the Week

The Uintah High School Student of the Week is Selena Fernandez, nominated by Mrs. Jackie Colton. “Selena is an amazing young lady who is completely dedicated to doing her best in the classroom,” shares Mrs. Colton. “She is thorough and detailed in her work, especially her writing, and is a great example to her peers.” Congratulations Selena Fernandez, Uintah Student of the Week. The Ute Athlete of the Week is swimmer Emily Despain, nominated by Coach Wendy Harris. “Emily is amazing and is always trying her best,” shares Coach Harris. “She is a definite team player [and] is the athlete that gets in and gets the job done. She sets good goals and is always working hard to achieve them.” Congratulations Emily Despain, Ute Athlete of the Week.

Kristin Baldwin

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
