Uintah Student and Athlete of the Week

The Uintah High School Student of the Week is Erin Watkins, nominated by Coach Wendy Girot. “Erin has grown and achieved a lot this year as a member of the color guard,” shares Coach Girot. “She has worked hard and practiced a lot to learn the skills it takes to perform with the color guard. Erin is a joy to have around and adds to the enjoyment of the group.” Congratulations Erin Watkins, the Uintah Student of the Week. The Ute Athlete of the Week is boys’ basketball team member Korbin Gardner, nominated by Coach Kenny Hardy. “Korbin is one of three seniors on the boys’ basketball team,” shares Coach Hardy. “He is a great leader for our team both on and off the basketball court and is a great example of hard work and dedication. He is also a great student in the classroom.” Korbin is a two year starter and scored 27 points in the Utes first game this season. Congratulations Korbin Gardner, the Ute Athlete of the Week.

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
