Uintah County Sheriff’s Office on Camper Safety

Summer camping is a must for many locals and visitors to the area. When it comes to leaving campers and property unattended on the mountain, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office reminds folks “to make sure trailers and anything around trailers are well secured. Don’t leave valuables such as generators and firearms on the mountain when returning home.” The Sheriff’s Office further recommends making a small investment to protect property by using game cameras or other security devices that keep watch while people are gone. Finally, it’s important that visitors to the mountains be aware of what is going on around them. “If you are camping or just out on a drive,” shares the Sheriff’s Office, “document and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.”
