A Uintah County Sheriff’s deputy is under investigation for sexual misconduct. According to Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton, the allegations were made on
August 27th
while the deputy was off duty. “Due to the nature of the allegation, the deputy was placed on administrative leave and an independent agency was contacted to conduct the investigation,” says Sheriff Norton. “The case was turned over to the Utah Attorney General’s Office on the same day the allegations were made.” The investigation is ongoing and the deputy has returned to work in a non-law enforcement capacity. Sheriff Norton says no further comments will be made about the case until the Attorney General’s investigation is concluded. Sheriff Norton has committed to be transparent with information as he receives it and takes the allegation very serious.
