The Uintah Basin Emergency Care Conference drew a crowd to the Uintah Conference Center over the weekend for a successful training conference. Over 230 people were in attendance coming from as far as the Spanish Fork area, Rock Springs, and the Rangely District in addition to agencies from all around the Uintah Basin. “This conference is a big deal because you have law enforcement, fire, EMS, and hospitals all coming together,” shares Gold Cross Ambulance Director Scott Adams. “It is one of the unique conferences in the state where you have all those disciplines getting training hours together.” Among the many classes during the conference there were several competitions. On Friday, the Gold Cross mens team won the Mega Code Challenge for the third year in a row, keeping the traveling bed pan trophy for another year. On Saturday, the Jensen Fire Department won the Fire Skills Challenge, demonstrating excellent teamwork. Classes during the conference included ropes courses, a hands-on suture lab, pediatric medical emergencies, advanced splinting, and children’s trauma process, among many others.
