The Uintah Basin Cancer Support Group meets tonight for their first meeting of 2017 and all are invited and welcome. While the group was hoping to begin rotating meetings between Roosevelt and Vernal, a Vernal location has not been secured, shares group representative Cecilia Sullivan, and so meetings will continue at the Villa in Roosevelt for now. Tonight’s speaker is Crissy Knibbe who has lived in the Uintah Basin since 1997. Crissy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and then in 2011 was diagnosed with cancer in her brain and lymphnodes. Despite the trials of cancer and its many effects on life, Crissy is motivated and driven to live each day to its fullest. She has been closely involved with Relay for Life and was the first Utahn to be awarded the Hero for Hope award through her involvement with Relay for Life. Crissy serves as an ambassador for the American Cancer Society and is a Reach to Recovery volunteer for newly diagnosed cancer patients. Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:00pm and will also include time for group discussion.
