UHP: Slow Down and Wear Your Seatbelt

The roads continue to vary in winter conditions meaning Basin drivers should remain alert and prepared for any driving situation. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Kellie Oaks reports that there continues to be slide offs everyday. Slowing down and having good tires makes a huge difference when driving on winter roads, explains Sgt. Oaks. Increasing following distance also goes a long ways in preventing slide offs. A lot of time people slide off because they were coming up too quick on another car when they begin to slide. It’s also important to always remember seatbelts, shares Sgt. Oaks. So in all, the message from Utah Highway Patrol is the same as always: slow down and wear your seatbelt!
