UBOC Christmas Concert Inspires and Delights

For many in the Basin, the Christmas spirit arrived Saturday while attending one of the two Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus Christmas concerts. The Vernal Middle School auditorium was packed with audiences eager to hear the children’s choir and see holiday dancers along with the orchestra and chorus talent. Guest conductor Dr. Anthony Maiello quickly won hearts with his sweet and humble personality paired with his energetic conducting style and one of a kind accordion solo. Dr. Maiello expressed love for the crowd and concert participants, emphasizing that he always feels a special spirit when he visits Utah and was especially touched by the people of the Uintah Basin. Dr. Maiello comes with high credentials as the founder, Conductor and Artistic Director of the American Festival Pops Orchestra in Washington, D.C. He was also nominated for a Grammy Music Educator Award this year. Saturday’s concerts were a hit, with a medley of Home Alone tunes a crowd favorite.
