Two Weeks Left For Open Burn Window

Time to take advantage of the spring burn window before it is over on May 30th. In Uintah County, burning instructions include the following: refuse cleared away from buildings and structures, burn away from power and utility lines, have a water supply available, tend the fire at all times, fires must be out by dusk, no piles larger than 4 foot by 5 foot or greater than 3 feet high, and burn during light or NO wind conditions. Also be aware that YOU are liable if fire escapes control. Burn permits are required for Vernal, Naples, and Ballard while county residents are not required to have a permit. All burns along with permit number are required to be reported to Central Dispatch at 435-789-4222 before beginning.  Permits are available atwww.uintahfire.com. In Duchesne County, permits are available by calling 435-738-1226.

Kristin Baldwin

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
