Tabiona Community Center Fees Waived

Excitement is growing as the reality of having a community center in Tabiona gets closer every day. Building inspection fees on the project were waived earlier this month during the Duchesne County Commission meeting. Tabiona Mayor Charlie Strebel made the request and County Building Official Karl Mott made a positive recommendation to do so. Commissioners unanimously approved the motion. The Duchesne County School District donated the property for the community center. The facility will include a full size gymnasium, indoor track, meeting rooms, and fitness center. It will also be designed so the school and community can utilize the facility at the same time without disrupting each other. Final funding for the project was approved by the Community Impact Board totalling $5,367,193 dollars. $2,683,193 dollars of that is a grant while $2,684,000 dollars of that is in the form of a 20 year loan at a 2.5 percent interest rate. An interlocal agreement between the Town of Tabiona and the Duchesne County School District states that the school district will make the payments on the loan portion.
