Steinaker Still Brimming With Bluegill

by | Jan 10, 2019 | News | 0 comments

How many bluegill do you think are still in Steinaker Reservoir? Guess higher. Although water levels have dropped dramatically as the reservoir dam is being repaired, the deepest channels are at fifteen feet and the bluegills are thriving. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources recently tagged 100 bluegill and only had 3 report back. It might not sound like much but it helps the DWR to know that there are anywhere between 37,000 to 39,000 bluegill still in Steinaker. It makes the 1,500 bluegills that were caught and transported to Pelican Lake recently seem like a condo of fish instead of the entire apartment complex that it was. Even so, remember that normal fishing limits have been restored to Steinaker and are in effect.
