Statement to be Offered on Uintah School Board Investigation

With the new board of education in place, the Uintah School Board superintendent investigation will be addressed during tonight’s school board meeting. The renewal of Superintendent Mark Dockins’ contract was a topic of closed and public board meetings throughout 2016 with little information ever publically offered as to the root of the conflict. In the spring, an outpouring of support for Superintendent Dockins from district employees and the community appeared to appease the board and no action was taken. Last month, it was revealed that an investigation had taken place concerning Superintendent Dockins under the direction of some members of the school board. During December’s meeting, Board President Mark Caldwell said the investigation was complete and no board action would be taken against the Superintendent. It was also determined that the renewal of the Superintendent’s contract would be decided by the new board. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:00pm and includes an agenda item for approval of a board statement regarding the investigation.
