Snow Removal Required on Residential Sidewalks

Snow has officially dumped on the area and local governing agencies are reminding their residents that snow removal is required from sidewalks. Roosevelt City Public Works issued a reminder in December asking residents to shovel sidewalk snow onto lawns and to avoid parking on the street so plows can do their job. In a statement issued Thursday, Vernal City reminded residents that city code requires property owners to remove snow and ice from sidewalks that are on their property. Code also states that “it is unlawful for any person to push, pile or place snow or ice onto or across any City street in anyway that it creates an obstruction or creates dangerous conditions for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.” Vernal City invites the elderly or disabled, that may have a difficult time removing snow, to contact the City Offices at 789-2271.
