Roosevelt City Council Considers Projects for CDBG Applications

Roosevelt City Council listened to public input during last week’s Council meeting as the City prepares to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds. CDBG funds are distributed between communities that have applied for projects that benefit low income housing and neighborhoods. One citizen requested that funds be pursued to start by paving on 500 South from 500 East to 450 East as phase 1. Using CDBG funds to pave roadway in this area was requested in 2008 but was not done. The Council said they would consider the request and that it could be a worthwhile area to utilize CDBG funds if awarded. City Manager Ryan Snow emphasized that there is no guarantee the funds will be awarded and that the applications are competing with low income housing projects. Storm, sewer and water upgrades on 800 South were also discussed and considered.
