Winter has arrived and with it, the roads are beginning to close in Ashley National Forest. The Forest Service has announced that “White Cloud Loop Road 020 is closed for the winter season, with a possibility of grooming later in the year. The road to Colton Guard Station 019 is closed as well, but will still be accessible for winter reservations by ski trail. Red Cloud Loop will likely be closed this week, and may be groomed for winter recreation by this weekend. Taylor Mountain will remain open for the next few weeks to access a timber sale
until December 20th
, and will be open to the public.” Officials urge any visitors to the forest to be prepared for winter conditions. Make sure someone knows where you are going and when to expect you back. Also always have cold weather gear in the event of a breakdown or having a vehicle get stuck.
