It’s going to be a holiday season for the record books if AAA holiday travel predictions come true. According to AAA, more than 103 million Americans are expected to travel for the year-end holidays which is 1.5 million more people traveling compared to 2015. The holiday travel period is defined as
Friday, December 23rd to Monday, January 2nd.
Low gas prices are the primary motivator for Americans choosing to travel as well as an overall rise in consumer optimism. “Tis the season for holiday travel and this year more Americans will travel to celebrate the holidays and ring in the New Year than ever before,” shares AAA CEO Marshall Doney. “Rising incomes and continued low gas prices should make for a joyous holiday travel season.” 93.6 million people are expected to take a road trip while over 6 million Americans will take to the skies to arrive at their holiday destinations. Nevada, Florida and California top the list as the most popular holiday destinations this season based on AAA bookings.
