A police chase ending at the Maeser Cemetery on Thursday was brought to a safe conclusion in the early afternoon. Vernal Police were dispatched to a residence regarding a Domestic Violence incident at approximately 8:40am. The suspect was reported as leaving the scene and officers began their search. The suspect, 39-year-old Daniel Phillip Norton, was seen driving near 2500 West 500 North and the pursuit began. Norton attempted to ram a Highway Patrol vehicle and the pursuit ended at the Maeser Cemetery but Norton refused to exit his vehicle. Multiple agencies including Vernal Police, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, Naples Police, and Adult Probation and Parole worked together to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. Norton was booked into the Uintah County Jail for Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child, Domestic Violence Assault, Reckless Driving, Evading, Aggravated Assault on 3 Officers, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Violent Convicted Felon, and a Warrant.
