Price Enforcing Gambling Machine Law

Price is leading the way in enforcing a new Utah law that went into effect this week making possession of gambling machines against the law. There were more than a few eyes rolled and questions asked about the seizure, but as others will point out, the law is simply being enforced. The Carbon Metro Drug Task Force and Officers from the Price City Police Department served a search warrant at Castle Country Hobby Pawn and Laundromat where they seized 14 slot machines and 3 coin pusher machines. Price PD explain that technicalities in the former gambling law provided a loophole in the enforcement of Utah’s ‘no gambling’ law. Owners throughout the state were given notice of the new change and Price PD says this seizure culminated an investigation that spanned many months and addressed citizen complaints over the machines.
