One Week Left to Audition for UBOC, Including Children’s Choir

Christmas for many locals kicks off by attending the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus Christmas concert the first Saturday of every December. The magic of that event starts many months before with auditions that are currently underway through August 15th. The process is simple and includes submitting an audition video. The Children’s Choir is a favorite for many of the concert attendees and is also an amazing experience for the participants. “Being a member of UBOC is a special privilege for kids,” shares Children’s Choir conductor Geri Benedicto. “It’s more than just singing with a group. Members of the choir can expect a disciplined environment where they can build musical and vocal skills, make new friends, and have fun.” Many of the youth in the Children’s Choir participate year after year and have their siblings and friends join them once they are old enough. The kids also have the privilege of working with UBOC Artistic Director Dr. James Bankhead and his wife Lyn Bankhead as well as guest conductors from across the country. “From working with conductors to simply listening to the orchestra rehearse or the overall thrill of live performance,” shares Benedicto, “getting to be a part of musical enjoyment and share it with others is a gift.” Specific audition instructions can be found on
