Officers Terminated, Lieutenant Resigns in Daggett County Jail Investigation

The investigation’s initial report from the Utah Department of Corrections has resulted in the termination of two Daggett County Jail employees and the resignation of another. On February 17th, the Utah Department of Corrections removed 80 state inmates from the Daggett County Jail as part of the investigation of alleged misconduct by staff. Two corrections officers were placed on leave in February as the investigation got underway. According to the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Jerry Jorgensen and Chief Deputy Chris Collett met with Utah Department of Corrections officials on April 11th to discuss the findings of the investigation. “As a result of the initial report, Daggett County terminated employment of the two correction officers that were placed on leave at the beginning of the investigation in February. They also accepted the resignation of the jail commander.” No further information is available as the investigation is ongoing.
