A Vernal man originally charged with 16 felony counts related to child sexual abuse has been sentenced to prison. 43-year-old Lloyd Vincent North was arrested on March 8th after police were informed of possible abuse of a 5-year-old child. According to court documents, North admitted to abusing his girlfriend’s son on multiple occasions. North faced 16 felony charges including sodomy on a child and aggravated sexual abuse on a child. In April, North entered Not Guilty pleas on all 16 charges. In June, counsel indicated that a plea agreement had been reached and North changed his plea to Guilty on one 1st degree felony count of Sodomy on a Child, one 1st degree felony count of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, and one second degree felony count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. The remaining 13 charges were dismissed with prejudice. North was sentenced on Tuesday in 8th District Court receiving 25 years for each 1st degree felony charge and 1 to 15 years for the second degree felony charge for a minimum sentence of 51 years.
