The allegations of child abuse against a man now living in Salt Lake County are chilling and all the more so when you learn he has already been convicted on serious child abuse charges, including in the Uintah Basin. According to a Good 4 Utah report, Kade Abegglen was arrested last week when his almost 1-year-old son was brought to Primary Children’s Hospital with optical issues as a result of severe head injuries. During the course of the investigation, police obtained video from a cleared SD card of Kade and his mother talking about what to tell hospital staff and then Kade calling his wife to relay the story of what to tell hospital staff, reports Good 4 Utah. In 2016, Kade pleaded guilty to two cases of child abuse in Duchesne County 8th District Court, one in which he broke bones in the feet of his 2-year-old daughter and the second in which he caused similar head injuries to his then 1-year-old son. The judge suspended the prison sentence, reports Good 4 Utah, and instead placed Kade on 36 months probation.
