Naples Elementary Asking for Community Support in Red Ribbon Photo Contest

Naples Elementary has gone all out for Red Ribbon Week this year and are asking the community to vote for them in the regional 2016 Red Ribbon photo contest. Schools across the nation celebrate Red Ribbon Week as a time to teach youth to live drug free. The National Red Ribbon Week organization awards schools for going all out and Naples Elementary is among the schools in Region 8 hoping to win the grand prize. “This contest was designed to provide a natural opportunity for parents and educators to talk to kids about drug abuse and prevention in a relaxed and fun way,” shares national organizer Peggy Sapp. “We are asking everyone to participate by voting for their favorite entry to help support families and schools in spreading the drug free message to children.” Naples Elementary chose the theme, “YOLO. Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
