Meet the Candidate: Duane Shepherd for Uintah County Commission Seat B

Duane Shepherd visited the KVEL studio this week for an interview on the Meet the Candidate Forum. Shepherd is currently the Uintah County Commissioner in Seat A having been appointed to the position by the Uintah County Republican Party after Mike McKee resigned in 2017. Shepherd is running for Commission Seat B which is currently occupied by Bill Stringer. Shepherd’s campaign information can be found on his website, www.electshep.com. The goals he lists for the next four years includes removing Commissioners from boards by having them advise rather than be able to vote, make Commissioners’ actions more transparent and clear, and securing public lands, among others. The Meet the Candidate Forum started on May 7th and is being held Monday mornings from 8 to 9am broadcast on News Talk KVEL 104.5 FM and 920 AM. The interviews scheduled for Monday, May 21st, are Joni Crane for Uintah County Commission Seat A followed by Mike Kennedy for U.S. Senate. Interviews will be rebroadcast every weekday morning from 8 to 9am starting Tuesday, May 29th, through Tuesday, June 19th.

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
