Meeker Arts and Cultural Council Presents Shrek the Musical, Jr.

“Beauty is in the eye of the ogre” in an exciting theatrical presentation coming to Meeker. The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council sponsors the Center Stage Youth Theatrical Group in presenting an annual musical and this year’s presentation will beShrek the Musical, Jr. The group was founded in 2010 and features youth from 3rd through 8th grade as the cast and crew members. This year’s production includes over 45 youth in a show that will have the audience rolling in the aisles. “...The magic that happens with the artistic construction of our dragon...and puppets...are a central highlight,” shares Director of Production Laurie Zellers. “The characters that come alive with each child’s personal work, creativity and talent are immense and captivating.” Casting on the musical took place in August and there have been hundreds of hours invested in the production since then. Kristin Baldwin

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
