A major Highway 40 widening project is underway in Duchesne County. According to the Utah Department of Transportation, U.S. 40 will be widened to 5 lanes from 6250 South near Myton to Pole Line Road in Roosevelt. The highway will include two lanes in each direction, with a center turn lane and 10-foot shoulders. The construction will restrict travel to one lane in each direction and drivers should plan ahead for narrowed lanes, traffic shifts and reduced speeds. “This project will improve traffic flow and enhance safety for drivers,” shares UDOT. Preliminary construction is scheduled to begin this Monday and the work will continue through the fall. The project is part of several Highway 40 widening projects aimed at improving transportation to, from and through the Uintah Basin.
