Main, Jr. Charged with Murder

A Duchesne County man who kidnapped a couple and then fled to Colorado in October has been charged with the murder of his father. A manhunt that began on October 28th in Duchesne County and ended October 30th in Grand Junction found James Hudson Main, Jr. in custody and investigators piecing together crimes that took place over 2 days and 2 states. According to court documents, Main’s father called police on October 28th reporting that his son Main, Jr. had stolen his gun and was “acting crazy.” Later that day, Main Jr. kidnapped two people at gunpoint at a Page Bench Road residence but the couple was later able to get away. The kidnapped man told police that Main Jr. had been bragging about shooting his father. When officers went to do a welfare check on James Main, Sr. at his home, he was found deceased by gunshot wounds. Main was charged in November with 2 counts of 1st Degree Felony Kidnapping, 2nd Degree Felony Theft, and 3rd Degree Felony Use of a Firearm by a Restricted Person. Last week, charges of 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Murder were added to his charges in 8th District Court.
