Local Take on Presidential Win

With Trump claiming victory, locals and public officials alike are hopeful that the economic future of the Uintah Basin is much brighter than if there had been a Clinton win. Uintah County Commissioner Mike McKee noted that from his point of view, the biggest positive of a Trump win is the possibilities for Supreme Court Justice appointments. “I hope it will be a new day of streamlining regulations and letting go of the stranglehold that has been upon us in the west,” says McKee, who also noted that he believes the economy will improve under Trump, though it won’t happen overnight. Officials have lately focused on diversifying the economy and McKee says that it is important for the local officials to work together to diversify and improve the economy  to help broaden stable job opportunities into the future.
